How this is calculated

No guesswork — here's the exact formula

This calculator follows the Income Tax Act 2023 rebate structure used by NBR. We show our working so you can verify it yourself.

1

Taxable income

Your gross salary minus the lower of one-third of your salary or ৳5,00,000, plus any other income you earn.

2

Maximum rebate

3% of your taxable income, capped at ৳7,50,000 — this is the most tax credit you're allowed to claim.

3

Investment needed

Rebate is given at 10% of qualifying investment, so we divide your rebate by 10% — capped at ৳25,00,000 invested.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is this calculator accurate for my exact situation?
This calculator gives a personalised estimate based on the standard rebate formula under the Income Tax Act 2023. It doesn't account for every edge case — multiple income sources, foreign remittances, or business income can change the picture. For an exact figure, book a 1-on-1 consultation.
What's the difference between a tax rebate and a deduction?
A deduction reduces your taxable income before tax is calculated. A rebate is a direct credit against the tax you owe — it's generally more valuable. The Bangladesh investment tax rebate is a credit, not a deduction.
Do I need to invest the full amount in one instrument?
No — you can split your investment across DPS, Sanchayapatra, life insurance, and listed shares in any combination, as long as the total reaches the amount this calculator shows you.
What happens if I can't invest the full amount?
You'll still get a rebate — just proportionally smaller. The rebate is 10% of whatever you actually invest, up to the maximum this calculator shows. Investing something is always better than investing nothing.

What people found when they ran the numbers

★★★★★

"I had been avoiding my return for two years because it felt too complicated. Once I saw the actual rebate number, investing the extra amount in DPS was an easy decision — it paid for itself."
